A recent in depth study and report produced by PwC called Clarity from Above: Transport Infrastructure shows commercial operators and construction companies in the transport space stand to gain significantly from a potential market for the commercial applications of drone technology.
For construction data gained through drones can facilitate rapid reactions to any deviations from the plan, and in extreme cases, might be used as evidence in litigation.
The global market for drones has been valued at €127n with the infrastructure market segment valued at €42n.
In one construction project supervised by the PwC Drone Powered Solutions team, the investor had savings of approximately $2.94m in claims settlement litigation, thanks to unparalleled evidence.

Drone Land Surveys in the UK

On a more UK and South West level we have seen in the last six months a steady increase in enquiries and orders for drone land surveys, drone building surveys and aerial building inspections.
We do have 20 years experience and expertise in this area, but we have been very encouraged by the take up and use of drone technology.
Instructions are primarily from commercial agents representing large companies like Sainsburys and Jewson, but we have also had contracts from large private land owners.
The type of work varies from sale particulars, monthly progress photographs, insurance claims to accurate 2d mapping.  Also there has been an substantial increase in the use of our interatice 360 Aerial Panoramas for inclusion on websites and social media.

We have be contracted to do drone land surveys n larger development site that are being considered for an outline or detailed planning application.
The drone aerial images and 360 aerial panoramas can clearly show  the topography of a development site and its relationship to its surroundings in a much more powerful way than ground based photography.
