DJI on their 10^th birthday had a very busy and successful month.
Hot on the heels of the Mavic launch DJI have launched two eagerly anticipated drones, the Phantom 4 Pro and the all new DJI Inspire 2.

DJI Phantom 4 Pro

DJI Phantom 4 Pro has a new camera with 1-inch 20MP Exmor R CMOS sensor that will film 4K video at 60FPS. It offers longer flight times and better anti-avoidance crash sensors.
There are two models of the Phantom 4 Pro, one with it’s own built in screen on the remote controller and the other cheaper option uses your existing tablet. So if you run other 3^rd Party apps like Litchi instead of the DJI Go App you can still use them.
The five new crash sensors are mounted front, back and underneath the Phantom 4 Pro, making it even harder to run into things.
DJI claim a flight time up to 30 minutes in optimum conditions. The Phantom 4 Pro will fly at 31mph with bursts of up to 45 mph in sports mode.

DJI Inspire 2

The new DJI Inspire 2 is packed with features like a 5K RAW camera, obstacle avoidance, redundant batteries / IMU and Apple ProRes.
This drone’s long list of features takes aerial cinematography to the next level at an unbeatable price tag.
DJI have created dual battery chambers on the Inspire 2 that mean it can fly longer up to 27 minutes with less down time. You can even hot swop the batteries. The battery chambers are self-heating to overcome the drop in battery life in cold weather that was a constant annoying feature of the Inspire 1.
The original launch claimed maximum flying speed of 67 mph has been downgraded this week to 58mph, and it will take 5 seconds to reach 50mph, but despite the exaggerated marketing hype, this is still a very impressive performance.
The DJI Inspire 2 offers a choice of two new cameras the Zenmuse X4S, a 1-inch 20-megapixel sensor with an f2.8 24mm lens, which shoots in 4K at 60FPS with a maximum data rate of around 100 megabits per sec.
For the real professionals the Zenmuse X5S shoots in 5.2K resolution at 30 FPS with interchangeable DJI lenses using a 20-megapixel micro four-thirds mount.
The X5S will capture video in industry standard Adobe CinemaDNG RAW and Apple ProRes 422 which are Codex that are widely used and suited to editing.
The duel controllers can stream HDMI output for possible live broadcast. DJI have also included a First-Person-View camera for dual controllers for the pilot to use, while the camera operator can see direct through the camera lens.
So the camera now does not have to always point forward as the FPV now gives the pilot the best view for flying.
The FPV camera was an aftermarket option from Heliguy on the Inspire 1.
Both models are available for preorder if you have the urge to improve DJI’s cashflow. Shipping starts in early December for the Phantom 4 Pro and January 2017 for the Inspire 2.
